Thread starter 0ptics Start date Dec 5, Then I looked online about the average battery life for the Nikon D, and on average it was shots; I was just concerned that maybe my battery or camera was faulty? Try charging it. Give it some time. Mine is new too. It went down to one bar after a couple days but has stayed there for a while now. Make sure your "turn screen off" settings are low too.

Hope you're off of "Auto" too. Of course the flash would drain the battery too. Last edited: Dec 6, Ya I'll definitely change some settings to increase battery life, I was just worried that it was my battery or camera; wasn't exactly sure how long DSLR batteries last in general because this is my first DSLR. I just wanted to compare what other's battery life on their D is like, eg. Might my camera body or battery be defective? Are there any larger capacity batteries available, or battery grips that will work with the D?

Publish Preview. I had to return one of these as my battery would last for about 30 shots and that was it. The one I got as a replacement has been charged once this week. The built in flash drains the battery as well as having the LCD on. It could be that there is an issue with it.

Lithium Ion batteries don't trickle charge so once the light stops flashing that's all the power you are going to get. Also they don't need to be fully drained before a recharge. Be sure to not leave it on by mistake and try some trouble shooting with leaving video mode on.

You should be able to make 6 or 7 video 10 min video clips from a full charge. Best of luck. Post Reply Preview. Thanks, Laurie. You had to replace the camera, or the battery?

Anthony Crosetta Photography 11 years ago. Hey Guys i have had no prob. I went out the other week with a full battery, i took around shots in around 8 hours and only lost one bar off my battery. I replaced the whole lot as it was from Amazon. Hi , I just bought it yesterday and took like shots with fully charged battery battery was full some of the shots were in live view mode. I am not having any problem with battery as far as i know.

Jan's camera 11 years ago. I also had the same problem. I ended up replacing the camera for another one. I haven't used it enough yet to see if the new camera is any better. I literally had just used it for a few hours when the battery went dead. I had to re-charge the battery 2 times in the 3 weeks that I owned it. And I had not even tried the video or the live screen. Not sure what the problem is here. Robdphoto 11 years ago. Keep in mind you wont get very many shots in the first few charges.

Like all lithium ion batteries it takes charges before you get peak performance. Azam Niazi 10 years ago. Very important topic indeed.

I have the same problem and so does my friend. D battery has an actual life of pics per charge no video, 50 percent shots with live view and 50 percent of the total pics with flash and I am on my 5th charge now.
