Why do we do this activity then? We repeated this process for a whole group of activities, sorting them into day and night activities. As we progressed we discussed the fact that day activities rely on light or heat and night activities are due to lack of light and heat.

Pictures Lesson 7. We reviewed some of the activities we talked about last class. In doing so we reinforced the concept that the daytime is lighter and normally warmer than the night time. Our next task was to learn how to interpret a thermometer. We discussed that the height of the "red" line indicates the temperature, the higher the line, the hotter it is. We talked about representing the heat from the sun with a thermometer and the light from the sun with a light bulb.

We used this analogy to complete a worksheet to show the light and heat through the day. We read through the worksheet and sat down with our scissors. Worksheet Cut-Outs Answers. Lesson 8. For today's lesson we made a craft. The purpose of the craft was to show the rotation of the sun and moon. The basic idea was to use half a paper plate as a scene with a second, full, paper plate in the background that could rotate around showing day and night above that scene.

Only one class can do the assignment at a time because it involves bringing home a thermometer from the school, and we only have one class set. The assignment is to track the temperature at home over the course of a week. Each student was given a tracking sheet and a thermometer the thermometers are brand new so please be careful. The students were instructed to check the temperature at home in the morning, the afternoon, the evening and at night.

We were given a review sheet with all of the things that we have learned about daily and seasonal changes.
